This school has been paticipating CFP activities since 2004. The Principal, who is an advisor of mangrove planting, is very active in carrying out the activities. The main species that the children are planting are mahogany or acacia which can be utilized as lumber. The trees planted around the school buildings and the dormitory are growing big, provide good environment in the form of shade and fresh air, and also are useful for improving school equipment such as tables and chairs for the children.
In Bangladesh where the price of wood is expensive, it is the first experience for all children to raise trees and utilize them. They seem to be feeling the pleasure of using the trees grown at school and the fun of planting and nurturing seedlings again. Besides, they are promoting tree-planting for preventing disasters such as floods and sediment damage often happening during the rainy season in this area where there is a big river near-by. Currently, they purchase seedlings, but in the future, plan to tackle producing seedlings, thus serving as a model to other schools.
